How It Works
Sleepbuds® work through two separate connections: the smartphone to your Smart Case using Bluetooth Classic, and the Smart Case to your Sleepbuds using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). We do this because BLE requires far less energy, allowing us to reduce the size of the battery on the Sleepbuds and making it possible for the Sleepbuds to be incredibly tiny and super comfortable for all sleeping positions.
Currently, most available phones do not support BLE for streaming content. This requires us to use the case as a bridge connecting the phone and the Sleepbuds. Once phones adopt BLE for audio streaming, this bridge will no longer be required.
The 2 Bluetooth antennas located within the Smart Case are covered by the silicone strips on the sides. The BLE antenna is on the left side of your Smart Case and the Bluetooth Classic antenna is on the right side of your Smart Case. The Smart Case Bluetooth Classic radio has a range of about 30 feet (9 meters) and the BLE radio has a range of about 10 feet (3 meters). For best results keep your phone on the right side of the Smart Case and your Sleepbuds on the left side and keep your Smart Case closed.
Designed For Bedside Use
Sleepbuds were designed to be used on your bedside table so that your Smart Case and Sleepbuds are within 10 feet (9 meters) of each other and so that your Smart Case and Phone are all within 30 feet (9 meters) of each other. For best results, keep the left side of your Smart Case facing your where your head will be when you sleep. This is important for when you are either using the on Sleepbud Sleep Sounds or when you streaming over Bluetooth. When streaming, place your phone on the right side of the Smart Case so it’s close to the Bluetooth Classic antenna and doesn’t interfere with the Bluetooth Low Energy antenna on the left side of your Smart Case that connects to your Sleepbuds.
