Soundcore vs. Ozlo Sleepbuds - The Complete Comparison
Falling asleep to a podcast is one thing. Keeping distracting noise from waking you later is another. The best sleep earbuds need to handle both, while remaining comfortable enough to wear against a pillow for hours. And of those three jobs, comfort is the one that decides whether you keep wearing them at all.
Ozlo Sleepbuds 2 and Soundcore Sleep Earbuds 4 approach that challenge differently. Ozlo starts with comfort: an ultra-small, ultra-light design built around how people actually sleep, paired with passive noise isolation, sound masking, and flexible audio transitions. Soundcore combines active noise cancellation (ANC), passive isolation, and adaptive snore masking, with additional options for customizing the fit.
Both products support Bluetooth streaming and can automatically switch to built-in sleep sounds when they detect that you've fallen asleep. The more meaningful differences are in how they fit, how they manage noise, how long they last, what their companion apps offer, and how focused each company is on sleep.

Even effective noise blocking loses its value if the earbuds become uncomfortable after several hours. For sleep earbuds, comfort isn't one feature among many. It's the foundation everything else depends on.
Ozlo Sleepbuds 2 weigh just 1.6 grams each without their silicone tips and measure 11 mm in height, roughly half the weight of Soundcore Sleep Earbuds 4. Their low-profile design sits within the ear rather than pressing out against your pillow, and the soft silicone tips are intended to minimize pressure when sleeping on your side. Four tip sizes are included so you can choose a fit that feels secure without being excessively tight.
Soundcore Sleep Earbuds 4 weigh approximately 3 grams each. They use a layered ergonomic design that Soundcore says reduces ear-contact area by 20% compared with its earlier Sleep A30. Soundcore also offers more fit combinations, including silicone and foam ear tips and interchangeable wings.
The trade-off is clear. Ozlo's advantage is the size and weight of the earbud itself: there is simply less of it in your ear and against your pillow. Soundcore offers a wider range of physical fit adjustments for a larger earbud. Individual ears differ, but if side sleeping and all-night wear are your main concerns, a smaller, lighter earbud is the most direct answer.

Both earbuds let you fall asleep to your own audio rather than limiting you to a manufacturer's sound library.
With Ozlo Sleepbuds 2, you can stream from apps such as Spotify, Audible, Calm, YouTube, and other Bluetooth audio sources. Ozlo also offers a Spoken Word audio preset designed to make podcasts and audiobooks clearer.
Soundcore Sleep Earbuds 4 also support Bluetooth streaming. In addition, the soundcore app includes sleep sounds, meditation audio, and other content designed for winding down.
The important question is what happens after you fall asleep. Neither product requires you to wake up and manually change sounds.
How Ozlo handles the transition to sleep
Ozlo offers several ways to control the transition through its Sleep Modes.
- Sensing Mode: Sleepbuds detect when you fall asleep and automatically transition from streaming to your selected Sleep Sound.
- Auto Mode: Your Sleep Sound starts when Bluetooth streaming stops.
- Time Delay Mode: Your Sleep Sound begins after a timer you set.
- Simple Mode: Your selected Sleep Sound plays directly from the earbuds without requiring an active Bluetooth connection.
For someone who falls asleep to an audiobook but wants steady noise masking through the night, Sensing Mode offers a convenient transition. If you prefer a predictable schedule, Time Delay Mode provides another option. You can also use Sleep Shield to prevent calls, alerts, and notifications from interrupting your night.
Soundcore Sleep Earbuds 4 use Smart Mode Switching. By default, the earbuds can detect when you've fallen asleep and transition from Bluetooth playback to built-in sleep audio.
Soundcore also provides three playback choices: switch to local sleep audio, stop playback, or keep the previous audio playing. You can manage these settings through the soundcore app. Its support documentation also specifies that ANC turns off after sleep detection under these playback options.
Both products therefore answer the original audiobook question: yes, you can begin with your own audio and have the earbuds manage what happens when you fall asleep. Ozlo offers additional ways to schedule the transition, while Soundcore provides choices for what should continue or stop afterward.
The biggest technical difference between these earbuds is how they manage unwanted noise.
Ozlo: Block and mask distracting sounds
Ozlo's noise-control approach combines passive noise isolation with carefully designed masking sounds.
The silicone tips create a seal that physically reduces outside noise. Sleep Sounds then help make sounds that pass through the seal less noticeable. This combination is particularly useful when trying to sleep near snoring, traffic, or intermittent household noise.
Ozlo Sleepbuds do not use active noise cancellation, and that's a deliberate choice. Leaving out ANC hardware is part of what keeps the earbuds small and light enough to forget you're wearing them. They rely on physical isolation and sound masking instead, prioritizing a design made specifically for sleep.
Soundcore: ANC plus adaptive snore masking
Soundcore Sleep Earbuds 4 take a different approach, combining three noise-control methods: passive isolation, active noise cancellation, and adaptive snore masking.
ANC helps reduce continuous sounds such as traffic rumble and appliance hum. Meanwhile, the Smart Case detects snoring and adjusts masking sounds as the snoring changes. Soundcore says its updated ANC system provides greater noise reduction than its earlier Sleep A30 model in certain frequency ranges.
That makes Soundcore an option worth considering if active noise cancellation is especially important to you. Ozlo's approach may appeal more if you prefer noise masking without ANC and want an especially lightweight earbud.
Neither technology guarantees complete silence. The type of disturbance, the quality of the ear-tip seal, and the masking volume all affect the result.
Battery claims need context because continuous Bluetooth streaming, local sleep audio, and ANC consume different amounts of power.
Ozlo Sleepbuds 2 offer up to 14 hours of playback. Ozlo's stated testing combines streaming audio and built-in Sleep Sounds at 50% volume. The charging case provides an additional two to three charges.
Soundcore Sleep Earbuds 4 provide approximately eight hours of Bluetooth playback with ANC enabled and up to 11 hours with ANC disabled. In Local Mode, the claimed runtime increases to approximately 14.5 hours with ANC off. Soundcore also describes up to 10 hours in its default combination of pre-sleep Bluetooth and post-sleep local audio.
These aren't identical test conditions, so the highest numbers shouldn't be treated as a direct performance ranking. If you plan to stream for most of the night, compare streaming runtimes. If you mainly use built-in sleep sounds, local playback is the more relevant figure.
Both cases charge through USB-C. Soundcore additionally supports wireless charging, while Ozlo provides a Smart Case button for starting or pausing Sleep Sounds and snoozing the private alarm without opening your phone.
Ozlo Sleepbuds 2 provide Sleep Patterns through the Ozlo app, including sleep duration, time in bed, consistency, efficiency, and information about environmental disruptions. The Sleepbuds and Smart Case work together to provide a more complete picture of your nights.
Soundcore Sleep Earbuds 4 emphasize bedroom-noise monitoring and awareness. Their Smart Sensing Case can identify selected important sounds, including a crying baby or a fire alarm, and trigger an alert through the earbuds. This is a convenience feature, not a replacement for dedicated safety devices.
Soundcore's more advanced in-ear physiological monitoring, including heart-rate and HRV tracking, belongs to the separate Sleep Earbuds 4 Pro model. It should not be confused with the standard Sleep Earbuds 4.
If understanding your sleep duration and consistency matters, Ozlo's Sleep Patterns may be especially relevant. If you prefer the combination of ANC, room-noise awareness, and selected sound alerts, Soundcore's approach offers different advantages.
Built for sleep, and only sleep
There's also a difference in what each company sets out to make. Soundcore is the audio brand of Anker, which produces a wide range of consumer electronics, from everyday earbuds and headphones to speakers and charging accessories. Sleep earbuds are one product line among many.
Ozlo does one thing: sleep. Every product decision, from the 1.6-gram earbud to the Sleep Modes and Sleep Patterns, is made for the hours you spend in bed rather than adapted from a daytime listening product. That focus is why Sleepbuds 2 don't try to be workout earbuds or commute headphones. They're designed to be the most comfortable thing you can wear to sleep.
Ozlo Sleepbuds are designed in the United States by a team dedicated entirely to sleep technology.
Recognized by partners and reviewers
Ozlo's sleep focus has earned recognition beyond its own customers. Ozlo partnered with Calm to launch co-branded Sleepbuds, combining its sleep technology with Calm's sleep stories, soundscapes, and meditation content. Ozlo Sleepbuds have also been recognized as a 2025 CES Innovation Awards Honoree and named a 2026 Sleep Winner by NBC Select. For a product you wear every night, that outside recognition is a useful signal alongside the spec sheet.
Ozlo Sleepbuds 2 or Soundcore Sleep Earbuds 4: which should you choose?
Choose Ozlo Sleepbuds 2 if comfort is your priority. At roughly half the weight of Soundcore's earbuds, with a low-profile design made for side sleepers, they're built to disappear in your ear for the whole night. Add flexible audio transitions, passive isolation with sound masking, and a company focused exclusively on sleep, and they're particularly appealing if you enjoy falling asleep to podcasts or audiobooks and want a familiar Sleep Sound to take over automatically.
Consider Soundcore Sleep Earbuds 4 if active noise cancellation is a priority, you want adaptive snore masking, or you'd benefit from the additional ear-tip and wing combinations. Wireless charging and selected important-sound alerts are additional advantages.
There isn't one specification that determines how well you'll sleep. Fit, the sounds that disturb you, and how you prefer to fall asleep will matter more than a longer list of features.
At Ozlo, sleep is all we do. We designed Sleepbuds 2 to make nighttime listening and noise masking as comfortable and effortless as possible. If comfort is what you value most, they're a compelling place to start.
